Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents a thorough study of 12 minor planets, initially discovered by James C. Watson, and includes their development of perturbations, nonsecular and secular, as well as the tables necessary to facilitate computation of their positions. The work was originally undertaken by Professor E. Becker, W. S. Eichelberger, William McKnight Bitter, and G. K. Lawton, but was halted due to the lack of computers proficient in the subject. The author of this book, Professor Armin O. Leuschner, along with students and assistants of the University of California, Berkeley, undertook the project and saw it to completion. The author utilized the eccentric anomaly method in place of the previously used mean anomaly method. The book is of historical significance as it represents a substantial contribution to the field of celestial mechanics, particularly in the study of minor planets.
