Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book collects and publishes the astronomical observations made at the Cambridge Observatory during 1831. The observatory had been built only 10 years before, and its first director had recently installed a new set of wires in the transit device. The author replaced these wires in April 1831, and this book contains observations gathered after the replacement. The author provides a thorough description of the process of making observations, discusses the systematic errors associated with the transit instrument and the determination of the meridian error, and presents a table of determined right ascensions. This book is a valuable resource for historians of astronomy, particularly those interested in the history of astronomical instrumentation, and provides insight into the methods employed by astronomers and the data gathered, at that time. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9781334033643_0
