Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is an early American text exploring the lives of Native American Indian tribes. It is set in the 18th century, at a time when European colonists are beginning to settle in America in large numbers. Forced from their land by European colonization, these tribes are losing their way of life and being pressured to convert to Christianity. The main character is Cannaffatego, a young warrior of the Onnondagan tribe. He is torn between his loyalty to his people and his desire to explore the world beyond his homeland. The book follows Cannaffatego's journey as he travels to England to meet with the British king, hoping to forge an alliance between the two nations. Along the way, he encounters many challenges and has many adventures. He also falls in love with Yarico, a beautiful Cayugan Indian woman. The book explores themes of love, friendship, and betrayal, and provides a fascinating glimpse into a world that is now long gone.
