Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book, an examination of the origins of the world, presents perspectives from two worldviews: religious and scientific. It introduces and then compares the creation stories proposed in the book of Genesis and by Ernst Haeckel, a revered scientist and strong proponent of Darwin's theory of evolution. While the sacred text of Genesis offers a spiritual and moral framework for the creation of the world, Haeckel's theories present a purely scientific framework based on the principles of evolution and natural selection. The author's discussion considers the theories of Genesis as a highly imaginative, poetic, and largely non-historical narrative. He points out the lack of evidence to support Haeckel's theory of humans evolving from apes. The author argues that science, when attempting to explain realms beyond its capabilities such as the origin of matter, can overstep its boundaries and venture into the territory of philosophical speculation. By contrasting these two worldviews, this book prompts readers to reflect on the complex relationship between science and faith.
