Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book describes the explorations carried out by First Lieutenant E.G. Beckwith in 1854. The explorations were made to establish rail and wagon routes along the 41st parallel to the Pacific Ocean. Beginning near Great Salt Lake, the group crossed the Wahsatch Mountains and continued on, crossing the Weber, Bear, and Muddy Rivers to finally reach Blacks Fork. From there, they continued on to Henrys Fork, crossed the Uintah Mountains, and reached Browns Hole and Green River. The return trip went along the western base of the Uintah Mountains before returning to Great Salt Lake. The account includes detailed descriptions of the land, plants, animals, and people encountered along the way, as well as the challenges and successes of the trip.
