Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a fascinating collection of oaths of allegiance to the newly formed independent state of Pennsylvania following the American Revolution. The oaths, sworn before various Justices of the Peace, provide valuable insights into the political and social climate of the time. They reveal the diverse backgrounds of those who pledged their loyalty to the new state, including former British subjects, German immigrants, and even a Hessian deserter. The oaths also shed light on the challenges faced by the fledgling republic, as many of the signatories had previously sworn allegiance to the British Crown. The author's meticulous research brings to life the struggles and triumphs of a nation in its infancy, making this book an indispensable resource for anyone interested in the history of the American Revolution and the formation of the United States. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9781334317255_0
