Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the composition of gases in soil and their impact on plant life. The author, an Imperial Agricultural Chemist, sought to accurately measure the gases present in soil by designing an attachment for a soil-sampling tool. The attachment enabled the gas to be pumped out of the undisturbed soil enclosed in the cylinder, allowing the volume to be compared with that of the soil. The author subsequently developed a method to estimate argon in the soil gases with precision. The book presents the findings of several experiments conducted to measure the gases present in soil under different conditions, such as fallow land, manured land, green-manured land, and swamp rice land. It also examines the gases present near the roots of crops. Through these experiments, the author provides valuable insights into the role of soil gases in plant growth and the nitrogen cycle. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781334337499_0
