Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book examines the financial statistics and structures of manufacturing corporations in the United States. The author analyzes income data and balance sheets from two sources for their overall picture: Statistics of Income, which comprises all corporations, and a sample of 400 large corporations from Standard Statistics. A unique dataset is also used, which comprises income tax returns from a sample of 1,300 small manufacturing corporations over 11 years. The study focuses on corporate profits, dividends, working capital, fixed capital, and the movement of funds. The author compares data from large and small operations, as well as across business cycles, examining the influence of size on financial behavior. The analysis reveals differences in profitability, dividend policy, and working capital management between large and small manufacturers, shedding light on the unique challenges faced by smaller businesses. Ultimately, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the financial dynamics of American manufacturing corporations and their significance in the nation's economy.
