Chemical Problems systematically arranged, I set myself the task of selecting and classifying for the use of my students, the questions inC hemical Arithmetic which have been set by several of the Public Examining Bodies. From the marked benefit which attended the use of these graduated examples, I have now found it desirable to add to them for the purpose of making the work more useful in a larger sphere. With this object in view I have prefixed to them sections on the more important Chemical Definitions, Nomenclature, Notation and Notes on the Chemical Laws and Theones. Rules for working different varieties of Chemical Problems are also given. The methods employed admit of variations and modifications, which will, doubtless, after the explanations given, suggest themselves alike to the teacher and the intelligent student. Most of the Atomic Weights employed in working the problems, are those printed in the Table on pages 114 and 115 as approximate; in exceptional cases, where great accuracy is necessary, the exact atomic weights given by the latest observers have been used. The majority of the questions have been selected from the papers set at the following examinations :O xford and Cambridge Local, London Unvuersitij, Science and Art Department, Owen sC ollege, and the College of Preceptors, and to the authors of such, I desire to acknowledge my indebtedness and to convey my thanks.
