Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book documents the geological work of Charles Lapworth primarily focused on the Southern Uplands of Scotland where Lapworth spent significant time in the field in the mid to late 1800s. Lapworth's geological observations there led him to apply the simple rules and methods appropriate to the study of uncomplicated rock formations to a region of great structural complexity which he recognized could obscure the true geological history. He set to work on mapping the Southern Uplands in minute detail, applying paleontological as well as lithological evidence to unravel the complicated structures. This led to new insights on geological evolution, rock formation, species change, and how the new science of geology could be used to chronicle the distant past. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781334481574_0
