By identifying samples of Ramshorn shells the author places the bottom of the Del Rio formation at 2176 feet and identifies the underlying rock as belonging to the Georgetown-Edwards series of limestones - which is where the well's production originates. The author concludes an examination of other wells in the area confirm his findings and further notes that this series of limestones has also produced oil in other parts of Texas.
