Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents a study of the fall in blood pressure that can occur as a result of stimulating the central end of sensory nerves. The author examines the afferent nerve fibers, and the vaso-motor centre itself through detailed experiments on cats, dogs, and rabbits. By applying a range of stimuli to the nerves, including cooling, regenerating nerves, mechanical stimulation of muscles, weak electrical stimulation, and repeated stimulation, exposure, etc., the author demonstrates the existence of two sets of nerve fibers: pressor and depressor. These fibers exert different effects on the vaso-motor center and can cause either a rise or fall in blood pressure. This work expands our understanding of the complex reex vaso-motor actions and the conditions that modify them, opening new avenues for research in this area.
