Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book provides a unique examination of the Lower Siluric shales of the Mohawk Valley, a formation previously disregarded by geologists due to its scarcity of fossils. The author has discovered that these shales contain an unexpectedly large and intriguing fauna, leading him to challenge the traditional view of the area's geological history. The author paints a vivid picture of 19th-century geologists as they grappled with the classification of these shales, setting the stage for his own groundbreaking research. He then takes the reader on a journey through the Mohawk Valley, describing the various outcrops of shale and the fossils found within. Through meticulous analysis, the author reveals that the Lower Siluric shales are far older than previously believed, dating back to the Trenton Period rather than the Utica Period as previously classified. This discovery not only revises our understanding of the region's geology but also sheds light on the broader sweep of Earth's history. This book will captivate geologists, paleontologists, and anyone interested in the fascinating story of scientific discovery. It challenges conventional wisdom, reveals the importance of meticulous observation, and offers a fresh perspective on the evolution of life on Earth. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781334745461_0
