Sources and Value Publications of this description are usually issued in the form of well illustrated pamphlets and will supplement with tittle expense the books on geography used in the class room. They come from several sources, the United States government, the different state governments, railroads, steamship lines, manufacturing firms, and chambers of commerce of cities and towns. Mr. Roland M. Harper has an article entitled A neglected ource of geographical material in the Journal of Geography for ,une 1916, p. 392-4, in which he states reasons why this material jls not used as much as it might be and gives his estimate of its vyalue in the following words: As far as accuracy is concerned, he present standard for free geographical literature, with the ossible exception of that issued by land companies, is higher vj4han one might suppose without investigation. Many of the -statements in these advertising pamphlets relate to facts which here would hardly be any motive for misrepresenting, or which an easily be verified in these days of rapid dissemination of VU5:nowledge. Even some state supplements to school geographies, published during the present century, are more extravagant, and HC even inaccurate in describing the advantages of their respective Kregions, and say less of the disadvantages, than some of the literJ vature here discussed. 3.; Mr. H.
