Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book chronicles the life of John McClintock, detailing his early life, education, and call to the Methodist ministry. Raised in a devout household, McClintock displayed a keen intellect and determination for knowledge from a young age. Despite his father's desire for him to enter the dry goods trade, McClintock pursued his passion for learning, eventually becoming a bookkeeper for the Methodist Book Concern in New York City. There, driven by his thirst for education, McClintock embarked on a rigorous study regimen that led to his enrollment at Wesleyan University. However, his academic journey was interrupted by illness, forcing him to return home. Undeterred, he continued his studies independently before matriculating at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout his academic pursuits, McClintock's faith deepened, and he answered the call to become a Methodist minister. Ordained in 1833, McClintock dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel, serving in various capacities, including as pastor, professor, and editor of the Methodist Quarterly Review. This book provides a comprehensive account of McClintock's life and work, highlighting his contributions to the Methodist Church and his legacy as a scholar and theologian.
