Excerpt from What Is Property?
It has always been large, especially since he became so celebrated and, to tell the truth, I am persuaded that. In the future, the correspond ence of Proudhon will be his principal, vital work, and that most of his books will be only accessory to and corroborative of this. At any rate, his books can be well understood only by the aid of his letters and the continual explanations which he makes to those who consult him in their doubt, and request him to define more clearly his position. There are, among celebrated people, many methods of correspond ence. There are those to whom letter-writing is a bore, and who, assailed with questions and compliments, reply in the greatest haste, solely that the job may be over with, and who return politeness for polite ness, mingling it with more or less wit. This kind of correspondence, though coming from celebrated people, is insignificant and unworthy of collection and classification.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book probes the question of property, tracing its history from biblical times to the author's era. The author examines the arguments surrounding ownership as a right granted by nature, law, or labor. He demonstrates that property is inherently unproductive and contends that the laborer is consistently exploited. Through a series of ten propositions, he argues that property is, in essence, impossible. Exploring psychological, legal, and moral perspectives, he provides a profound analysis of the institution of property and its impact on society. This book offers a comprehensive examination of a key concept, delving into its historical evolution and challenging commonly held beliefs. Its insightful critique and alternative perspectives stimulate critical thinking about the nature of ownership and its profound social implications. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
