Synopsis

In this romantic journey tale, ideal for enthusiasts of Sarah Dessen and Morgan Matson, a teenage girl uncovers the worth of everyday items while learning to forgive her absent father. After Ali's father passes, he bequeaths his cherished possession, a 1968 Firebird convertible, to his daughter. However, Ali has no intention of keeping it, as it reminds her too much of her father's broken promises. When she finds a buyer 300 miles up the Pacific coast, ready to pay enough to save her childhood home, Ali is eager to embark. But there's a Ali can't drive a stick shift. Enter Ali's ex-boyfriend, Nico, who convinces her to 'trade up' collected items instead of selling the car, aiming to reach the needed amount. Agreeing to Nico's unconventional plan, Ali embarks on an unexpected adventure. Through her travels, meeting strangers, and understanding their valued possessions, Ali gains insight into her father's life, realizing it might not have been as simple as she thought. Just like the seemingly insignificant objects Ali collects, not everything is as it seems.
