A complete exposition of the elements only of all subjects of direct interest to the designer is aimed at. No attempt is made to go into mathematical or constructional details, as this is manifestly impossible in a work of this size. In Chapters I to Vis given a general outline of the physics and chemistry of the gas engine and a discussion of gas engine fuels, leading up toT able 3which gives the relative power yielded by various fuels in a given engine. Chapters VI to IX give a discussion of the action in a gas engine cylinder, from the designers point of view, leading up to Chapter X, which gives the method of finding the size of cylinder for a given power.
