If it meets their views, and aids in the slightest degree to strengthen Squthern resolution, the author will feel grateful for the opportunity aflbrded him to perform even so small a service. The views it attem23ts to illustrate are not new, but they are Southern, and the foct, that in widely separated portions of our Southern country these opinions have impressed themselves upon minds difterent in temper, proves that we are beginning to think for ourselves the first stej) towards acting for ourselves.
