Présentation de l'éditeur

The Guide of Judaism was written and edited in Montreal, Canada, under the most trying circumstances. Problems of the war which had affected the entire British Jewry, and the inner problems of the Greater Montreal Jewry which were ever present, afforded me but very little repose and tranquility necessary for a classical work such as this is. But God was with me, and after going over the pages of the Guide of Judaism ,the proverbial one hundred and one times, I do not find one sentence out of place, or one word to be altered. The student will find out by real study that the Guide of Judaism is the groundwork for every branch of Jewish knowledge. It is theS mag, the Hinuh, the Ramban, the Halohot Gdolot and Maimonides Sopher ha-M izvot combined. To the teachers of Hebrew schools, my advice is herewith given :G ive the pupils of the higher classes, as part of their home work, at least two hours weekly, the Guide of Judaism .I twill enable them to obtain a systematic training in their future studies of Judaism, particularly those pupils who intend taking up the higher branches of Jewish education. The theological students, by committing to memory the 279 commandments which are now in vogue, and tracing them in the Guide of Judaism ,will obtain the fundamental knowledge of the construction of Judaism as practiced in Diaspora. Stmon Glazer. Rabbi of United Synagogues of Greater Kansas City. Kansas City, Mo., Sivan 7, 5682 (T une 5, 1922).

Présentation de l'éditeur

This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
