Jieun Kiaer is Professor in Korean Language and Linguistics at the University of Oxford, UK. She is the author of Pragmatic Syntax (2014), Pragmatic Particles: Findings from Asian Languages (2020), Emoji Speak (2023), The Future of Syntax: Asian Perspectives in an AI Age (2023) and Conversing in the Metaverse: The Embodied Future of Online Communication (2024), all published with Bloomsbury Academic.

Alfred W. T. Lo is an Oxford-Wolfson-Marriott doctoral researcher of Applied Linguistics and East Asian Studies at the University of Oxford, UK, where he also teaches Modern Languages at the Oxford University Language Centre. He has worked at the School of English at the University of Hong Kong and the Department of English Language Education at the Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
