Italians of prehistoric times is scanty and full of contradictions, and, after a study of the most ancient skulls of Etruria and of the Roman Forum, I decided to extend my anthropological researches to the island of Crete, as the ages of stone and of bronze can be studied there more thoroughly than in I taly. In my expeditions on the Mediterranean I collected the material for the following works: Neolithic Civilisation in Crete. Skulls and Skeletons of the Bronze A ge in Crete. Chemical analysis and chronological comparison of the most ancient weapons of copper and bronze of the countries on the Mediterranean. If these three studies were printed for learned societies they would be lost to the general public for whose benefit I have for many years published my work. Moreover, I desire to collect my impressions of travel, and must explain how it is that I have become an amateur archaeologist.
