Each line had its particular friends, and was welcomed as it arrived or departed, ith the loudest huzzahs from its admirers. The stage-drivers of that day, were a somewhat different class from those of the present. They were mainly farmers sons and many of them well to do selected with especial reference to sobriety, as well as skill in handling the ribbons. They were regarded by us juveniles, as tinily wonderful individuals, enjoying opportunities for sight-seeing accorded to but few, and many a boj looked foi-ward with delightsome anticipation to the day when he, perchance, equally favored by fortune, should come rattling into the village with four in hand, the envied of his fellows. The driver of that day was not a man of all work, as is the present. Upon arriving at the Hotel, he threw his ribbons over the backs of the wheel-horses, alighted from his box, and walked in with the passengers to his repast.

At the time of which I write, it enjoyed no railroad facilities, as now for this rapid means of communication was then unknown in this country.
