This monograph had its origin in an investigation carried on by the author while a member of the economic seminary of the Johns Hopkins University. The actual material was obtained for the most part from bankers actively engaged in the flotations described. Mr. Henry Goldman of Goldman, Sachs Co., New York, and Mr. A bel Rosenburg ofF rank, Rosenburg Co., Baltimore, aided the author in obtaining material and information. Acknowledgement is made toM errill, Lynch Co., to Ladenburg, Thalmann Co. of New York, and to Stein Bros, of Baltimore. Finally, the author wishes to express his appreciation of the helpful criticism received from Professor J. H. Hollander, Professor G. E. Barnett, and from the other members of the economic seminary in the Johns Hopkins University.
