Synopsis

Jo and Andy, two ordinary kids from Liverpool are about to be pulled into an incredible journey across time and space, with the future of the beautiful game in two worlds at stake!

Andy Bellew, the 10 (nearly 11) year old rogue cares more about escaping his broken home and completing his Spider-man comic collection than his reputation as a nuisance and a thief. Teenager Joanne “Jo” Johnson wants nothing more than a half decent football team to play for and to watch her beloved Kenny Dalglish-led Liverpool FC win the League and Cup double. However, on a trip down to London for the FA Cup Semi Final (Jo), and the Westminster Comic Mart (Andy), the pair are accidentally thrown twenty years back in time to 1966. Tossed right into the middle of the mysterious Man In Black’s plot to steal the World Cup Trophy the kids, along with their new friend from another universe, the football obsessed Fedora, must recover the Jules Rimet trophy and restore the timeline before the future of football (and Kenny’s Reds!!) are lost forever.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

JOHN J. MACHIN:
John was born in Liverpool in 1951, and grew up in the Norris Green area of the city. He studied Political Science and Economics at Birmingham University, where he met his future wife Annette. The pair returned to Liverpool after graduation, got married and went into teaching (Annette) and Social Work (John) in 1973 (a big year!). Their first child, Paul was born in 1983, with Lauren following in 1991. John retired from his role as Manager of the Disabled Children’s Service in 2012 and since then has taken up Tai Chi, continued his role as the family’s Culinary expert, whilst also being an amazing hands-on “Pops” to his three grandkids Jack, Penny and Taylor. A huge Liverpool fan, he spent 20 years standing on the famous Spion Kop and has been an Anfield season ticket holder since the 80’s; he also has an amazing archive of Marvel comics dating back to the 60’s including a cherished copy of Amazing Spider-man #1.

PAUL J. MACHIN:
Paul is the Founder and Presenter of The Redmen TV, the largest unofficial Liverpool FC channel on Youtube, and the originator of the “Fan Media” movement in football. He has self published four LFC related books, worked as a freelance pundit for Sky Sports, TNT Sports, BBC, ITV, ESPN and CNN, and once hugged Jurgen Klopp. As Watchmen writer Alan Moore once commented, Paul was “brainwashed by John as a child” and therefore shares his deep love for the Superhero genre, as well as Liverpool Football Club. Husband to Charlie and Dad to Jack and Penny, both of whom have been pecking his head as to when the book will finally be finished. Paul prefers DC Comics to Marvel, a fact John describes as “like raising a son to support Everton”.
