Pat Bloebaum has been a commercial artist, advertising copywriter, and Army Wife. But one of her most exciting jobs was escorting tours for Army Special Services in Europe. Those travels now provide the backdrop for a story of danger, deceit, and death, about which novelist David Poyer said, "It's nice to read a spy story in which all the women aren't beautiful but deadly, or beautiful but brainless." The protagonist, Abby Singleton, is a middle-aged, menopausal Army wife who blunders into a KGB plot while visiting Moscow. She is ultimately abducted from Munich's famed Oktoberfest by Aleksandr Petrovich, the Russian spy who has tracked her across Europe. He takes her to an isolated hut in the Bavarian Alps for interrogation-and assassination. Her only defense is her sharp intelligence, a 20-year accumulation of Army survival lore, and the assorted junk in her pocketbook. Can she outwit the Russian and survive?
