Synopsis

I believe that a book called 'The Bible' no longer is central to the people of Europe and the Americas. The Bible contains the basis for the faith of Jews and Christians. Part of the Bible is known to, by not accepted by, the Jews. The Bible was a basic book in the lives of the people who wrote the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution for The United States. The Bible was central to the lives of citizens in America in the 19th Century. In the last half of the century recently closed, there began a lessening of interest in The Bible. Today, I expect there are millions of people who know of The Bible, but know nothing about The Bible. With that in mind I have written this volume. The aim is to present in the plainest language what The Bible is all about. For many centuries the God of all that is has spoken to individuals through the Bible. I hope that everyone who reads my book will turn to The Bible to discover God's Message for each reader.

Biographie de l'auteur

Born -- May 1911. John A. Lampe attended schools in Winfield, Kansas, Chicago, Illinois, and St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois and from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. He served four congregations as installed pastor; Two in Illinois, and one in Ohio. One in Pennsylvania. Since retirement he has been the interim pastor of six other churches. He is one of more than twenty in his family circle who have been pastors, military chaplains, or missionaries in Africa, China, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico and in the United States of America. Dr. and his wife have six children, eleven grandchildren and (presently) four great grandchildren.
