Synopsis

More people have gone into space than sailed around the world alone. Yet for Emma Richards being adrift in pirate-infested waters was nothing compared to struggling through the 'soul-destroying solitude' of crossing 30,000 nautical miles for 132 days in a solo yacht. Moving, compelling and inspirational, Around Alone is a stunning tale of a young woman's battle with the elements.

'She confronts terror and hangs on while it ebbs away' The Independent

'An inspiration to all' The Sun

'Never before had I seen anyone with such natural talent' Tracy Edwards

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

Born in Scotland into a family of sailing enthusiasts, Emma has spent her entire life on the water. At 11 she was competing in dinghy world championships, and by 23 she had become the youngest member aboard Tracy Edward’s maxi-catamaran for the Jules Verne trophy. But it was her outstanding achievement in the 2002 Around Alone that caught the attention of the media and fired the imagination of the general public. As talented as she is courageous, Emma Richards has received widespread admiration in the sailing world and beyond. She lives on the Isle of Wight.
