Illustrators Lisa Swerling and Ralph Lazar established Last Lemon Productions in 1999, which originates, produces, and licenses cartoon properties.Lisa studied politics, philosophy, and economics at England's OxfordUniversity.She formerly ran her own graphic design business in London.Ralph studied law and economics at South Africa's University of Cape Town and the London School of Economics.He was formerly an investment strategist at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse First Boston.Their wacky and curious characters, the Brainwaves, appear in the DK books How Nearly Everything was Invented and How the Incredible Human Body Works.

Writer Jilly MacLeod studied zoology at UniversityCollege, London, then joined a leading children's publishing house where she learned the ropes as a book editor.She has since developed a wide range of children's nonfiction and reference titles, and has been the author of several titles including DK's How Nearly Everything was Invented...by the Brainwaves.
