A very useful book which looks in detail at the way in which we farm our fruits. Having recently returned from Tenerife, where I had the chance to visit a banana plantation and talk at length with the owner, I am acutely aware of many of the problems facing present day fruit farmers. Subjects included in this book include caring for the soil, pests and changing markets. Areas also discussed include looking at sustainability and ways in which we can avoid damage to the environment. The book is full of high resolution photographs and plenty of useful information. There are lots of suggestions for places to visit and possible websites together with other books which may be of use. Ideal for middle and upper primary students, it provides a detailed background to the fruit farming. I am sure that it would be an ideal addition to any school or class library. Well written with plenty of shorty punchy pieces of text, this book is an excellent read. --Godfrey Hall, School Library Association
