Brigadier-General Ernest Alexander Cruikshank (1853-1939) was a Canadian author and noted authority on Ontario history. He wrote a number of books on this subject. He was Chairman of the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. He was a member of the Royal Society of Canada and President of the Ontario Historical Society. His works include: Queenston Heights (1890), A Century of Municipal History, 1792-1892 (1892), The Story of Butler's Rangers and the Settlement of Niagara (1893), The Fight in the Beechwoods: A Study in Canadian History (1895), The Battle of Fort George (1896), Drummond's Winter Campaign, 1813 (1900), The Action at Cook's Mills (1923), A Memoir of Colonel the Honorable James Kerby (1931), The Life of Sir Henry Morgan (1935) and The Political Adventures of John Henry (1936).

This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work.
