Rolf Reinke was born May 11, 1928in Berlin, Germany to a middle class family.¿His father was in the printing business.¿ He lived with his family in a townhouse apartment, complete witha doorman in the center of Berlin.¿ Theyalso owned a vacation home in the south.Rolfs happy-go-Iucky childhoodended abruptly in the Autumn of 1939 when Germany invaded Poland.¿ His father was drafted into the German armyat age 39, leaving Rolf and his mother to fend for themselves.It took the Allied Forces threeyears to accumulate the power to successfully begin bombing Germany.In 1943 the German governmentsent Rolf to Poland and Czechoslovakia to be educated, as three of the schoolshe attended had been destroyed by the bombs.Read this fascinating story tofind out what happened to Rolf once he was finally reunited with his family.Rolf decided to leave EastGermany and apprentice for a job as a mason.¿He left Germany in 1958 with his wife and small daughter and set sailfor a new life in America.In his new country he enjoyedsuccess as a building contractor until 1994 when he retired after handing thebusiness over to his son, who was born in America in 1960.He currently lives with his wifeIn South Carolina.
