Jeffrey Solomon is a traveler.Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, at age two heboarded the Union Castle steamship from South Africa to England and back. Hisearliest memory is crossing the equator and being dunked in water by the crew.At the age of eight he boarded the first BOAC Cometjetliner with his businessman father to Europe. At ten the family went toAmerica before returning to South Africa at age twelve.Following his graduation from the JohannesburgSchool of Art and a brief stint in the South African Air Force, he worked for afew years for a wholesale watch importer. He took time off to travel alonearound Europe before returning and eventually starting his own business at theage of twenty- five.Over the following twelve years he built up his ownelectronics wholesale company and became an established businessman and one ofthe largest watch importers in South Africa. A member of the JohannesburgChamber of Commerce, a respected member of the business community, he countedamong his friends and acquaintances some of the elite of the businesscommunity. During this time he traveled the world, especially in the Far Eastand in Europe. His business interests took him far and wide to over thirtycountries. With business interests spanning the globe he was on top of theworld, constantly traveling and taking the time to explore new places at everyopportunity.In 1986 following German Bank speculation on theSouth African currency, the South African economy fell and the country fellinto political turmoil. Having lost a fortune in the collapse of the economy,like so many young South Africans of that time, Jeffrey and his young familymade plans to leave South Africa. Abandoning a privileged life style of BMW'sand servants.Facing an uncertain future, they departed SouthAfrica for Omaha, Nebraska in the USA.
