This book is a comprehensive source of information and clarification of the principles and institutions of Jewish law in all its areas. Originally included in the Encyclopedia Judaica and previously available in a hardcover edition, this material is now available for the first time in a paperback edition. The intention is to make it easy to use and available for a wider audience.The book begins with a major introduction discussing the development of Jewish law. À propos de l'auteur
Menachem Elon served as a justice on the Israeli Supreme court from 1977 to 1993 and its deputy president 1988-1993. He has been a guest lecturer at Oxford University, University College of London, and visiting professor at Harvard University's law school. In 1993 he was elected president of the World Union of Jewish Studies and he is a member of the Hauser Global Law School Program at New York University School of Law. He has been the head of the Jewish Law Institute of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
