This is a collection of letters written by Mary Price (1919-1991), a Welsh nurse, to Samuel Barber, an American Army Lieutenant, from 1944 to 1948. During much of this time, Mary was working in London as a nurse and Sam was a soldier with American forces in Europe. The letters mix observations about the historic events of the 1940's with the personal concerns of individuals living during the historic times of the 1940s. Mary
