Biographie de l'auteur

Tyari Witherspoon is from Lancaster, South Carolina. He graduated from the University of South Carolina, where his major was Sociology and his minor was African American Studies. Presently, he is a graduate student at the University of Iowa. His goal is to earn an M.A. in African American Studies and a Ph.D. in History. He is both an artist and a writer, primarily of poetry. Tyari has been participating in Black history programs, open-mic events, and poetry readings since 1995. His first book, entitled STAND, is a volume of poems and songs that deal with topics such as love, spirituality, African American Studies, racism, and other social themes.
