Synopsis

Having a puppy is one of the greatest joys in life. The unconditional love that one gets from dogs is unbelievable. Faversham was the cause of my living when my husband died. He was my constant companion and got really distressed when he saw me crying. Later when life improved if Faversham got into some mischief, all I had to say was "Do you want Mummy to cry? He would immediately stop, come near me and put his hugh paws on me. I still can''''t believe that a landlord and his underlings could play such dirty tricks. All I wanted to do was to rent an apartment and live peacefully with Faversham. LeFrak had only one decent person working for him - Jack Friedman. He told me how I was being used as an example to other tenants with pets. I shall be forever indebted to Major Koch for passing the Dog Law and Judge Sparks for seeing through the lies that Moskowich told me. Also many thanks to the neighbors who wrote lovely letters about Faversham and last but not least Jolene Marion, Faversham''''s Attorney who advised me and consoled me during the 14 months of trial and tribulation caused me by an unconscionable landlord. Recently I was at a party commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth''''s ascension to the throne, and a lady came up to me and said "I hate to tell you I can''''t remember your name but I do remember your dog''''s name Faversham". The lady was Dr. Linda Jacobson, Faversham''''s vet.

À propos de l?auteur

Lillian Rappe was born in Malta, a part of the British Empire and now a part of the British Commonwealth. She still writes G.C. when she writes to anyone in Malta as the award was given by King George VI during World War II to Malta and its people when they fought and stood against Hitler and Mussolini. The George Cross is one of the highest honors given to any country and its people. When she lived in Malta her Grandmother was living with them. Grandma had been to the USA to visit a son. She went for two weeks and stayed two years! As her first grandchild she would tell Lillian how great the USA was and how wonderful New York City was. Grandma also promised Lillian that when the war ended they would go to the USA. Unfortunately, Grandma died before she could keep her promise. But Lillian, on her 19th birthday promised herself that she would go by herself. It took some time but she made it. She landed in Manhattan and fell hopelessly in love with the place. Within three days she got a wonderful job with Radio Corporation of America, later known as RCA. After five years she became a U.S. Citizen. She met her husband and married him in Manhattan. She even found her second Faversham in Manhattan. She visited the UK and Malta three times during the 42 years she has lived in the States, and even though she is a Daughter of the British Empire, Manhattan is now HOME.
