Marie Rivier faced many obstacles in life. She was a cripple unable to walk in her childhood, but Blessed Mother Mary cured her. Everything she did was through Mary. Refused entry into a Community of Sisters, she determined to begin her own convent. She founded the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary during the French Revolution, when all the convents were being closed. She had a great love for the poor and was willing to give her own clothes to them. Over 500 orphans were given the love of a mother and a safe home with her. Her Sisters are now in 18 countries making Jesus Christ known and loved. Marie Rivier was beatified by Pope John Paul II May 23, 1982. This book has been written for grade school children. But anyone wanting to know Mother Rivier would profit by reading this short biography.

Biographie de l'auteur

Sister Margaret Trudell is a Sister of the Presentation of Mary from the Manchester NH Province. while serving the order she first taught in the elementary grades, she then spent thirty-seven years as librarian at Rivier College in Nashua New Hampshire. She dedicated three years to Casa de Esperanza, in Houston, Texas, which is a House of Hope for children in crisis, due to neglect, abuse or the effects of HIV. Through the years, Sister earned a Masters in Education from Rivier College and a Masters in Library Science from Catholic University of America in Washington D.C.Based on research begun when at Catholic University, on Elizabeth Yates, Sister brought the material up to date and published in 2003 with First Books: Elizabeth Yates ; A Biography and Bibliography of Her Works . Sister is now residing at Presentation of Mary in Hudson, New Hampshire. This second book is a short biography of the foundress of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Blessed Anne Marie Rivier.
