Synopsis

Here There And Everywhere is a travelogue written by Lord Frederic Hamilton, a British aristocrat and diplomat who lived from 1856 to 1928. The book was first published in 1921 and contains Hamilton's recollections of his travels around the world during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The book is divided into 16 chapters, each detailing a different location that Hamilton visited. These locations include Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. Hamilton writes about his experiences in each place, describing the people he met, the cultures he encountered, and the landscapes he saw. Hamilton's writing is descriptive and evocative, bringing the reader along on his journeys. He recounts his encounters with royalty, politicians, and other notable figures of the time, as well as everyday people. He also reflects on the changes he witnessed in various parts of the world during his travels.Overall, Here There And Everywhere is a fascinating glimpse into the world of a well-traveled aristocrat during a time of great change and upheaval. It offers a unique perspective on the world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is a must-read for anyone interested in travel writing or history.A tropical night is seldom quiet, what with the croaking of frogs, the chirping of the cicadas, and some bird, insect, or reptile that imitates the winding in of a fishing-reel for hours together, but really the noise of the Jamaican nights after the earthquake was quite unbearable. Negroes are very hysterical, and some black preachers had utilised the earthquake to start a series of revival meetings, and these were held just outside the grounds of King's House. Right through the night they lasted, with continual hymn-singing, varied with loud cries and groans. ""Abide with me"" is a beautiful hymn, but really its beauties began to pall when it had been sung through from beginning to end nine times running. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
