It's 1969 and a young soldier is in a life or death situation in Vietnam, and half way around the world, an elderly man by the name of Harvey Beason is alone and dying of cancer. Haunted by his past and the birth of an illegitimate child 20 some years earlier, he can do some good if he can find this person and make them his heir. He boldly hires a detective named Patrick Henry a tough ex-cop, who begins his search and finds himself surprisingly embroiled ina international conspiracy of gigantic proportions, which is much more than he bargained for.

Born in 1949, the author D.L. Hale was raised near the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. After attending class in a four-room schoolhouse, David moved to suburbia where he finished high school. He was in the Army and in Vietnam in the sixties and again in 1972, following a stint at Carson-Newman College. He also attended Tennessee State Tech. Hale has four grown sons, and is married to the woman he took to the prom in 1965. He is a business owner and consultant, a member of the NWU (National Writers Union) The Knoxville Writers Guild. Hale has won several Editor’s Choice Award’s from The International Library of Poetry , and he was highlighted on “Paul Harvey’s broadcast, The rest of the story,” on January 3, 2002.
