Set in the mid-70's, "The Rose from Sharon" is a story established around a precious, strong willed young girl by the name of Rose Johnson. In this novel, the underpinnings of life threaten to strain the family and it is Rose's love for her family that compels her to act as the adhesive before it all goes too far. Her father Rufus is the established deacon at the largest Baptist church in town. He is a man that is well respected, yet allows himself to become lured into a situation that threatens to ruin him and destroy his family. To further add insult to injury, Rose's brother Larry, a Vietnam veteran, scarred by the ravages of the war, living in Minnesota, moves back to town. Within time, his life is in danger because of knowledge that he has from the war, as well as other situations that he finds himself in. All of this is occurring; Rose's mother Della''s faithfulness to her family is put to the test by a mysterious visitor from her past. In the midst of the madness, Rose feels torn by her loyalties to the ones that she loves. Yet, it is her strength and integrity that helps her make the right choices."The Rose from Sharon" is an intense, fiercely written story that will keep the reader on the edge waiting to find out what the next chapter will reveal.

Biographie de l'auteur

Stuart Abrams has been writing professionally for the past 10 years. He resides in Sandusky, Ohio and holds a bachelors degree in business administration. He currently is pursuing a Masters of Business Administration degree from Tiffin University. "The Rose from Sharon" is Abrams second novel, his first, the seminal "More than Conquerors" was lauded as being "intensely written". The local Sandusky Library listed Abrams with such writers as Toni Morrison, James Baldwin and Ralph Ellison. Abrams is currently working on his next novel "He who is without sin". A story set in the late 80's about a prominent Midwest pastor who is wrongfully accused of extorting money from his church.
