AND THE TIGERS COME AT NIGHT is a funny and light hearted book on a subject as serious as life itself. The author was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2004 at the comparatively young age of 62. The diagnosis resulted in major surgery. The book traces the four months from diagnosis to operating theatre. Down what the author calls 'THE PROSTATE PATH'. It deals with the fears the hopes - the Tigers that visit him in the pre-dawn. It faces each stage with humour and fun, dealing light-heartedly, not only pre-op, but the aftermath and the resulting problems as well. No-one who reads it can fail to be amused, and in so being comforted in their own distress. It is a must-read for anyone facing that heart-stopping diagnosis.

BASIL JAY - was born in London in 1942. After a brief spell as a keyboard player in an unknown 1960's rock band, Basil qualified as a surveyor. In the 1970's he took a year out and drove to India with his wife and three young children. On his return he picked up the threads of business, although his heart was always in music and the amateur stage. Success in business enabled him to retire to the Isle of Man at the early age of 48. 'AND THE TIGERS COME AT NIGHT' is his second book. His first, 'THE THIRTEENTH NIGHT' having been published in 1996. Basil has also written a series of books for younger children called 'THE ADVENTURES OF TWIG', and compiled and recorded two anthologies of poetry on cassette. THE GREAT POETS, and THE SOLDIER POETS for which he also composed the background music.
