H. Rider Haggard was a prominent British writer during the Victorian era. Haggard was a prolific author and he is very influential due to his adventure novels, oftentimes set in exotic locations, as well as for being one of the first authors of the Lost World genre of fiction. Haggard's most famous books feature the popular characters Allan Quatermain and Ayesha. Allan and the Holy Flower, published in 1915, is an adventure novel that centers around Allan Quatermain as he travels to Africa in hopes of finding a mysterious flower.

Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English writer of adventure novels set predominantly in Africa, and a founder of the Lost World literary genre. Haggard is most famous as the author of the novels KING SOLOMON'S MINES and its sequel ALLAN QUATERMAIN, and SHE and its sequel AYESHA, swashbuckling adventure novels set in the context of late 19th century Africa. Hugely popular KING SOLOMON'S MINES is one of the best-selling adventure books of all time.
