Synopsis

The Mysticism of Philo is a book written by Harold R. Willoughby that explores the mystical teachings of the ancient philosopher Philo of Alexandria. Philo was a Jewish philosopher who lived in the first century CE and was known for his unique blend of Greek philosophy and Jewish theology. In this book, Willoughby delves into Philo's mystical ideas, which include the belief in a divine Logos or Word, the concept of the soul as a spark of the divine, and the importance of spiritual purification and asceticism. Willoughby also examines Philo's views on the nature of God, the afterlife, and the relationship between humans and the divine. The Mysticism of Philo provides a comprehensive and insightful look into the mystical teachings of one of the most influential philosophers of the ancient world.THIS 44 PAGE ARTICLE WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE BOOK: Pagan Regeneration: A Study of Mystery Initiations in the Graeco Roman World, by Harold R.
