John Adler was born in Germany. Being Jewish, at age 15, he fled his home in 1939, two days before the German invasion of Poland. While his parents immigrated to China, he went to Palestine entering a kibbutz. At eighteen he volunteered to the British Army, participating in the WWII African desert and European campaigns. After the war, he lived in Italy, immigrating to the United States in 1948. John retired after a long business career and lives in Los Angeles.
