Chris Dempsey was raised and lived most of his adult life in the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minnesota. Apart from his working career, he stayed physically active by playing golf during the summer, skiing during the winter, and running during the entire year. In late 2000, he and his spouse moved to Las Vegas for warmer weather and mountain vistas.In early 2002, he joined the Lone Mountain Hiking Club and began experiencing the scenic beauty of the area around Las Vegas. Hiking also satisfied the need for physical activity, and he soon found himself on the trails several times each week.In 2004, Chris began leading organized hikes for the Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association. Currently, he leads about five hikes each month for Red Rock, as well as occasional hikes for Lone Mountain Hiking Club and the Sun City Summerlin Fitness Department. Even though Chris is retired, he sometimes feels that hiking has become a full-time occupation.
