Debi Phares was born in Keyser, West Virgina and moved with her family to Fort Myers, Florida in 1962. She is the youngest of 7 children. Growing up she spent a great deal of time with her menagerie of pets, including a chicken. She has always been an avid reader of diverse topics and is highly self motivated. Debi has been married for 25 years to Vin Faris; and they have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Her zest for life and her quirky sense of humor prompted her first children's book, an adventure of her wild attempt to out run a hurricane with her young grandson, Kaya. It seemed no matter where Vin and Debi traveled during his Naval career, Debi was always able to find an adventure. They traveled from California to Rhode Island, before returning to Fort Myers, FLorida in 1981 when Vin retired. Debi's memories of their life and travels provide her with plenty of material for future books Debi now recognizes her storytelling as a gift and a talent to be shared. Her style and events in her everyday life are a wonderful read. Debi has also written a genealogy book about her mother's lineage.
