From ancient etchings in the Vatican Vaults seen only by a chosen few each lifetime, he knows the stranger. His clandestine order, charged with guarding the world's most powerful, sacred relics for millennia, has been keeping watch of one regarded as the most beautiful weapon ever forged in the fires of the sun. The legendary sword of the Archangel Michael. Hours before, three SETI scientists capture a series of satellite photos of an intense column of light colliding with earth. One frame seems to have captured the shadowy image of a man. A man with wings. Determined to beat the government to the discovery, they quickly set out to find the visitor. Learning of the phenomenon, the President and U.S. government ally with the SETI group and join the mission to locate the extraterrestrial. Unbeknownst to the scientists, their escorts are ordered to contact, detain and, if necessary, destroy the being. Accompanied by Father John, Michael searches the planet for his one time brother and greatest nemesis, Sataniel, who has also returned to earth, but precipitately, breaking his million-year old covenant with God. Michael, on God's bidding, gives the dark one three terms, one of which is to fight God's champion again, sword against sword, for ownership of the earth forever. On Michael'sorders, the Catholic Pope makes an unexpected announcement to the world and the earth explodes into absolute mayhem. Armies and countries posture for all out inevitable nuclear war as the world takes sides. Nation divides against nation, brother against brother. Religious sects, seeing the visitor's presence as the "End Times," begin killing each other by the tens of thousands around the planet. The ground and sky open and turn black as millions of the legions of hell swarm from the earth and heavens, surrounding Michael's much inferior numbers. The second battle for heaven and the universe has begun. And this time it is being fought here. Among us. The story climaxes in a cataclysmic, one-on-one battle between Michael and Sataniel set in the blood soaked ancient ruins of the Roman Coliseum. Millions of their legions surround the great monument to witness the final battle between good and evil. Will the outcome begin the foretold thousand years of peace, or is it the beginning of the eternal rule of the Beast?
