Flash X is the new version of Macromedia's Flash. Sham's book goes through all of the basics of Flash X, including a brief but informative tour of the interface. This is a classic beginner's book, aimed at complete beginners to the subject, and aiming to take readers up to a competent level with the technology. They can then move on to more advanced foED books such as "Foundation PHP 5 for Flash", and "Flash User Interface Design" to satisfy their continuing quest for knowledge.

Sham Bhangal began on the route to web design in 1991, designing and specifying information screens for safety-critical computer systems, as used in places like nuclear power plant control rooms. He soon discovered more conventional interface design, animation and multimedia tools, such as 3D Studio Max, Photoshop, and Flash. He has been writing books on them since the turn of the century. Some of the books he co-authored are Foundation ActionScript for Flash MX (foEd, ISBN: 1-59059-166-6), Foundation Flash 5 (foEd, ISBN: 1-90345-031-4) and Foundation ActionScript for Macromedia Flash MX 2004 (foEd, ISBN: 1-59059-305-7)
