Synopsis

The Works of W. E. Henley: Plays Written in Collaboration with R. L. Stevenson is a collection of plays written by W. E. Henley in collaboration with Robert Louis Stevenson. Henley was a poet, critic, and editor, while Stevenson was a novelist and essayist. The book contains four plays: Deacon Brodie, Beau Austin, Admiral Guinea, and Macaire. These plays were written in the late 19th century and were popular in their time. Deacon Brodie is a play about a respected citizen of Edinburgh who leads a double life as a thief. Beau Austin is a play about a boxer who is forced to retire from the ring due to an injury. Admiral Guinea is a play about a wealthy man who has fallen on hard times. Macaire is a play about a notorious criminal who is falsely accused of a crime. The Works of W. E. Henley: Plays Written in Collaboration with R. L. Stevenson is a valuable collection for fans of both Henley and Stevenson, as well as anyone interested in late 19th-century theater. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
